Carlos Koo 古天祥(卡路士)
Carlos Koo, half-Spanish and half-Chinese, was born in Panama in 1979 and moved to Hong Kong in 1981. He graduated from the Department of Counselling and Psychology of Shue Yan College (University) in 2003 and has since worked as a model for renowned international brands and appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. He is currently an actor under contract with Shaw Brothers, and a guest lecturer of the Department of Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
His multiple identities and special background are the very soul of his artistic creation. Carlos is especially good at integrating classical symbolisms of East and West, transcending geographical boundaries to convey inner emotions with the combination of different elements. Although copperplate engraving is a time-honored art form in the West, he is able to render shadows and textures reminiscent of ink painting , allowing profound Eastern aesthetics to emerge from the smooth surface of metal.
